Privacy
A short explanation of how photos, feedback, and public posts are handled.
What Banchanism processes
When you choose a photo for AI identification, the photo is sent to our secure server function and then to the AI provider only to return a result. The app does not keep the original scan photo in its database.
Scan feedback and collection
If you mark a result correct or select a correction, we store the predicted dish, confidence, candidate list, feedback, and time of the scan. This helps us improve identification quality. The current MVP collection is shared because the app does not require an account.
Community posts
A community post is public. The dish name, story, place, and any photo you choose to submit can be viewed by other users. Do not include personal, private, or sensitive information in a post or photo.
Service providers
We use Supabase to run the app database and storage, and xAI to analyze a photo when you request AI identification. Public food and image sources may be shown with their own attribution and licenses.
Your choices
You can avoid AI processing by not starting a scan, and you can avoid public sharing by not publishing a community post. The app does not use scan photos for advertising or sell personal information.
Changes and contact
This policy may change as the service develops. The effective date is July 13, 2026. Use the support email listed on the App Store product page.
